We have developed a simple Operating Model system

The Ops Workroom is a place to manage operations, THEO is the method to do it easily

Your culture is driven by how well your organisation is operating, not the other way round.

Organise your operations and you'll strengthen your culture

What is it?

Xero for Operations.

A holistic, comprehensive, online Operating Model; a single source of truth

Who is it for?

Non-profits, community groups, small commercial businesses and anyone else.

Organisations drowning in unnecessary procedures, inefficient filing, lost insurance policies, paper forms, unclear position descriptions, fragile funding structures, unmanaged risk.

What do we mean by Operations?

'Operations' are all the activities that make your organisation function — not what it delivers, but everything that makes delivery possible.

It is not just a department. It is not just an activity. It also should not be the junk drawer of your organisation.

It is the connective infrastructure of the entire organisation — the fabric that connects your purpose to your people, your plans to your processes, your funding to your goals.

When its working, everything works. When it not, everything is harder than it needs to be, but worse still, you won't know it until it's too late

At its root, to operate means to make something function. Not to deliver the mission; to make the mission possible

'Operations' is often used to describe production, delivery and supply chains, or facilities and assets. But these are only a small part of Operations - it is much broader. We can't manage it if we don't accurately define it.

Operations support culture

Most organisations think of culture as separate from operations, driven solely by the people.

The evidence does not support this, and neither do we.

Consider: if carton after carton of milk goes off in a fridge, is it wise to keep blaming the milk? Making sure the fridge is working perfectly first will tell you.

A mature operational culture has the same key features. We call them the 5Cs

Clarity

Everyone knows what they're doing, why, and how. Information is accessible, decisions are visible, risks are surfaced early

Consistency

Consistency

The work doesn't depend on one person knowing the secret. It's done the same way whoever does it, and customers get the same experience whoever they speak to

Cohesion

Capability

Consistency

People, systems, processes, decisions and strategy work together. No unnecessary silos, no bottlenecks

Control

Capability

Capability

Nothing is left to chance. The work is taken seriously and every step matters. The structures are in place to keep the work reliable and safe — which is exactly what lets creativity and innovation thrive

Capability

Capability

Capability

The organisation is clear about who it is, and who it is not. It's confident in its role in the bigger picture, and actively values the roles of others. It knows its limits and its strengths

We acknowledge and say thanks to the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and live. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, ancestors and mobs, to Bunjil the creator, and to the land itself. We are honoured and humbled to walk on the unceded sovereign lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

Always was, always will be.

Passion drives the mission. Structure protects it
